Jason’s Endorsements

Jason Maki for Platte County Endorsements
Organizations and Leaders Endorsing Jason Maki for Platte County Presiding Commissioner

Endorsements are earned, not given. Each of the organizations and leaders below reviewed my record, my platform, and my commitments before putting their name behind this campaign. I do not take any of them lightly. To every member represented by these organizations — thank you.

Platte County Sheriff Erik Holland

Sheriff Holland has served in the Platte County Sheriff’s Office since 1999, rising through the ranks as a sergeant, captain, and major and serving as the agency’s general counsel before being elected sheriff in 2024. In his endorsement, Sheriff Holland said: “I believe Jason Maki is the best choice for Platte County Presiding Commissioner. His pragmatic approach to governing, and his commitment to keeping the county focused on its core missions, are things I appreciate. I support him in his campaign, and I look forward to working with him in partnership to help protect the citizens of Platte County as it grows.”

Fraternal Order of Police, Kansas City Lodge #99 & West Central Missouri Lodge #50

The Fraternal Order of Police is the world’s largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, representing more than 7,700 officers in Missouri and more than 377,000 nationwide across more than 2,200 lodges. In their joint endorsement letter, Lodge #99 President Todd Templeton and Lodge #50 President Paul Brooks wrote: “No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by today’s police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police officers better than the FOP.”

AFL-CIO Greater Kansas City

The AFL-CIO represents union workers across the Kansas City labor community, advocating for the quality of the American workforce and for meaningful, family-sustaining employment. In their conversations with the campaign, AFL-CIO leadership shared that Jason was the strongest Republican candidate they had ever seen come through asking for their endorsement, citing his convictions on the need for high-quality labor in the American workforce and the same standard applied to public safety.

IBEW Local 124

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124 represents roughly 4,500 electrical workers across the Kansas City area, and runs one of the region’s most respected apprenticeship and training programs in partnership with the union electrical contractors of NECA. I believe good-paying jobs that provide for a family come from organizations that invest in developing real vocational skills for workers. That is exactly what Local 124 does, every day. Their endorsement, like the AFL-CIO’s, comes from a shared conviction: a skilled workforce is what keeps families in Platte County and keeps this county growing the right way.

Communications Workers of America, Local 6360

CWA Local 6360 represents communications and public-sector workers across the Kansas City region — including employees of AT&T and Lan-Tel Communications, and the nearly 700 workers of the Mid-Continent Public Library system, which serves Platte County families every day and is now the largest library union in Missouri. Local 6360 stood with this campaign in the primary and has renewed its support for the general election. Their endorsement comes from the same conviction I share with every labor organization on this page: organized labor builds a skilled, stable workforce, and a skilled workforce is what keeps families in Platte County and lets this county grow the right way. To Tom Gebken and the members of Local 6360 — thank you.

Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® (KCRAR)

KCRAR is the voice for real estate in the Kansas City region, representing more than 13,000 REALTOR® members across Kansas and Missouri, and the largest professional business association in the metro. Its members work with Platte County families every day on the biggest purchase most of them will ever make. KCRAR’s endorsement reflects what I have said from the start of this campaign: growth is coming to Platte County. The key is to manage it in a way that keeps Platte County distinct, not only in its character but in its commitment to the families who live here. The job of county government is to protect property rights, keep property taxes low, keep this county affordable to live in, and be brilliant at the basics — public infrastructure and public safety that are well funded, well thought out, and well implemented.

International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 42

Endorsed by unanimous vote in the Platte County Presiding Commissioner primary.

IAFF Local 42 represents more than 1,800 firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and public safety officers across Greater Kansas City. In their endorsement letter, Local 42 Political Director Matt Dowd wrote that Jason’s “diligent work and caring attitude towards Public Safety, Working Families, and the Citizens of Missouri has earned our highest endorsement.”
